East Sussex Special School Nursing Service

The East Sussex Special School Nursing Service provides access to specialist knowledge and skills for children and young people who have additional health and nursing needs.   The nursing service works alongside other medical professionals including paediatricians, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and Language therapists, dietitians as well as other specialist nurses.

Grove Park School is recognised and registered to provide education to children and young people who have severe and profound learning disabilities and some of these children will have additional health and nursing needs.  The service will ensure that key staff at Grove Park School are trained and competent to manage the additional nursing needs of children and young people.

Children and young people who have been identified as having additional health and nursing needs will be assessed for this service following a full health assessment with one of the nursing team.  Assessment and additional individual care plans will be shared with school staff to ensure that health and medical needs can be safely managed while maximising attendance at school.  The Special School Nursing Service caseload varies to reflect changing health needs.
